Wildfires
Battling infernos with innovation
Remember when the sky above San Francisco in 2020 looked like something out of Blade Runner 2049? That was due to the wildfires in California that got out of control. And they’ve only gotten worse every year since then. State and federal agencies are stepping up fuel treatments, but planning them can take up to a decade. We don’t have that long - the forests will burn before we can fully act.
Hopefully, this nonprofit can help regain control with the system we designed. Wildfires (the nonprofit, not the actual wildfires!) is here to regain control of the crisis. We teamed up with them to design a centralized system to manage projects, track timelines, and analyze data.

With so many experts involved in each project, everyone has different goals. High-ranking officials analyze data from behind their desks, while specialists in the field need a reliable mobile experience to input the data.
We followed an agile design process, working in small iterations. This approach let us quickly prototype and share ideas with pilot forests, ensuring our MVP was solid before launch.
Always Be Prototyping! Static screens seem like enough, but when you click through a prototype, you start seeing the design from the user’s perspective.
